Significance of the Centre

The Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, Mumbai is one of the oldest centres of the Ramakrishna Order. It is a sacred place, whose spiritual atmosphere has been strengthened by continuous worship and meditation over 100 years.

Its significance is derived from two important dimensions:

One, it has provided solace to hundreds of individuals who seek inner peace beyond the hustle of daily life, particularly in a city like Mumbai.

Two, it’s unstinted and dedicated service to the needy in and around the city of Mumbai – with the attitude of ‘Service to man is worship of God’.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

CONCLUDING FUNCTION OF THE CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS

His Holiness Most Revered Srimat Swami Smarananandaji Maharaj, 16^th President of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, attained Mahasamadhi on Tuesday, 26th March 2024. In this connection, a Special Puja, Havan, Memorial Meeting and Bhandara will be held on Sunday, 7th April 2024.

As the date for Memorial Meeting, Special Puja & Bhandara for Most Revered Srimat Swami Smarananandaji Maharaj will be observed on 7^th April 2024 which coincides with the scheduled Concluding Function of the Centenary Celebrations of Mumbai centre, we are postponing the dates for the Concluding Function.

The Concluding Function of centenary celebrations to be held on 6^th & 7^th April 2024 stands cancelled as of now. The new dates will be conveyed to all shortly.

Courses Offered

Every year about 120 students are admitted to various courses of 6 months to 1 year duration.

Medical

The Centre treats about seven hundred patients every week in the Out Patient Department. Patients come from places as far as 100 km from the centre.

Agro / Farm

growing paddy, farming vegetables and fruits, livestock management

Cultural

Prayers, vedic chanting and classes

To preserve and promote traditional art and culture, the Centre encourages tribal folk dances, music and painting.

Classes

Talks and Discourses

Regular weekly classes are held on Srimad Bhagavad Gita (Sunday) and Sri Ramakrishna Vachanamrita (Thursday). Also discourses on spiritual subjects are held often.

Booksales

Book-sales & Publications Showroom

Books are available on Ramakrishna Vivekananda Literature, Hindu Scriptures, Vedanta and Spiritual Practice (Sadhana). Books for children too are there.

Retreats

Spiritual Retreats

The centre organizes day-long or half day retreats for Spirtiual Seekers twice a year. Monastic speakers are invited from other branch centres to deliver talks on various topics related to spiritual life.
